150th Anniversary!

The Midland Counties Association celebrated their 150th Anniversary on Thursday 7th October, running three events in one day!

MCAVA’s President, Caroline Pullin hosted a brunch for Local Association Presidents & Secretaries and honoured guests. It was a great opportunity for everyone to network whilst experiencing an enjoyable brunch and watching an Anniversary film created by Sarah Franks marking the last 150 years of the Association.

This was swiftly followed by the MCAVA National Conference in the afternoon, held in person and virtually it attracted over 260 Members who listened to a wide range of interesting speakers including Minette Batters NFU President, Alistair Martin, Keeper of the Records of The Duchy of Cornwall and Jeremy Moody, CAAV secretariat to name but a few.

The final part of the day was an evening celebratory dinner in Warwick Castle. Glad rags were dusted off, with the mild weather allowing everyone to enjoy drinks and canapes in the inner court yard whilst listening to a knight on charger and minstrels playing. Members were then escorted into the Great Hall for an evening of entertainment and three course meal. All of which ended too quickly, but not before speeches by Andrew Coney National President, Paul Clayson MCAVA Council Member and Andrew Thomas, Immediate Past National President who auctioned off a bottle of Pendurin whiskey in aid of RABI. The evening concluded with a toast to 150 years of MCAVA and acknowledgement that the 150th anniversary had been marked well, as proved by a few sore heads the following morning!
